Phase II: Further developments and Pilot Application


Development and longer-term application of operational numerical models linked to monitoring networks for coastal, environmental and water quality management purposes and routine forecasting (Operational Modelling System). Further, pilot application of a system version for the Elbe estuary and the port area of the City of Hamburg. HYDROMOD was the initiator and general co-ordinator of this EUREKA-project.

Lake Hemmelsdorf (1993 - 1994)


Hydrodynamic and environmental impact assessment studies for Lake Hemmelsdorf including a lake-wide bathymetric survey, hydrographic and hydrological measurements, hydro-geochemical sampling and analysis, evaluation and budgets of nutrient loads and three-dimensional modelling of long-term circulation and dispersion of sewage water discharges and plumes.

Greifswalder Bodden and Oder-Estuary exchange processes


Contributions to three-dimensional modelling of circulation and exchange processes, hydrographic field survey, data evaluation, and satellite-borne (ERS-1) image evaluation.

Maximum Turbidity Zones in Estuaries


Numerical modelling of the three European estuaries Elbe (Germany), Scheldt (Belgium/the Netherlands) and Gironde (France) and hydrographic measurements for investigation and inter-comparison of physical and biogeochemical processes in turbidity zones of these tidal estuaries.

Feasibility study and numerical model investigations concerning re-opening variants of an up to date cut-off section of the Elbe River in Hamburg in preparation of an environmental impact assessment study.
