Model simulations for the optimisation of port construction measures and capital dredging in the Hugli estuary south of Calcutta. The study includes the establishment of a small-scale hydrographic model, extensive verification with field measurements and calculation of erosion/sedimentation tendencies for different planning options.

Part III: Model verification, qualification and assessment studies


Verification of a three-dimensional model system by hind-casting lake-wide synoptic measurement campaigns. Conduction of case-computations to investigate different run-off and stratification scenarios as well as the impacts of historic, actual and planned configurations of groins and dams at the river Rhine inflow on circulation, stratification and sediment dispersion. Further, elaboration of a comprehensive summary report of the three so far conducted project parts.
